Outreach Intern

General Description:

The Outreach Intern at Protect Minnesota (PM) will assist the Director of Outreach and Organizing with regular outreach tasks as well as researching projects and programs to engage key audiences for gun violence prevention in Minnesota. This position is responsible for assisting with data entry related to fundraising and outreach as well as the research and development process for a multitude of diverse education and outreach initiatives to achieve the mission goal of preventing gun violence in Minnesota through engagement, advocacy, and community-led solutions. This is a part-time role that will provide a $2000 stipend for the semester or will attribute the hours to college credits, with flexible hours depending on availability and class schedules.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in college, university, or community college.
  • Proven organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage a diverse array of projects and tasks.
  • Good working understanding of gun violence as an issue.
  • Experience working with partners and coalitions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer skills, including knowledge of Google Suite.
  • Ability to transport self and attend events regularly throughout intern’s geographical area.
  • A commitment to diversity and equity in gun violence prevention work and an understanding of the various ways different communities are impacted by gun violence.


Job Functions:

Outreach Tasks: As a member of Protect Minnesota’s Outreach Team the Outreach Intern will assist with post outreach event data entry into everyaction. Assist with data entry and tracking of fundraising initiatives, and attend outreach events when available.

Research: Alongside the Director of Outreach and Organizing the Outreach Intern will conduct research and collect information on existing community organizations with shared or similar missions that Protect Minnesota does not currently partner with to facilitate the strategic expansion of Protects outreach goals

Working Conditions: This is a remote position based anywhere in Minnesota. Time will be spent attending meetings and events at various locales throughout their geographical area.

This position reports to the Director of Outreach and Organizing.

Compensation: $2000 per semester
