Northside Students March For Our Lives Photo Gallery
With your help, Protect Minnesota raised over $37,900 to send 24 students from North Minneapolis to the national March For Our Lives in Washington DC, March 24, 2018. The trip is a partnership between Protect Minnesota, the Northside Achievement Zone, and #MNEVERAGAIN,
Highlights of the trip will include a tour of Howard University and other sites important in civil rights history, as well as reserved admission to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Then on Saturday, March 24, the group will march together with other student groups from Minnesota. It is vital that students from the diverse urban communities most impacted by gun violence be heard among the student voices for gun reform.
We’ll post photos and updates throughout the trip. And many thanks to all the generous donors who made it possible!

The students, parents, and group leaders gathered at Northside Achievement Zone for check in, an orientation, and pizza. (We will be eating a LOT of pizza on this trip–hope the students like it!) NAZ CEO Sondra Samuels gave a rousing speech, reminding the students that they are going on this trip as representatives of their community, where too many young lives are taken by guns. We met our bus drivers, Jeanine and Terri, loaded everybody and all our gear on a bus so new it’s got that “new car” smell, and left Minneapolis about 8:15pm.

Good morning from the Northside Students! All is well. We are rolling through Ohio. We stopped for breakfast and are now back on the road. Feeling sleepy but excited!!
