After the tragedy of Orlando, when 49 young people were shot to death for dancing at a gay club, Rep. John Lewis and other congressional leaders began the #DisarmHate movement. They have asked groups like Protect Minnesota to plan events under the #DisarmHate banner during the summer recess, to connect action (or inaction) in Washington with events at home.

In response, Protect Minnesota has planned 2WEEKS2 #DisarmHate, including the following events:

Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral, 519 Oak Grove St, Minneapolis, MN 55403
Followed by a reception and presentation about Protect Minnesota.

Roundtable Discussion               FLYER
“Congress Under the Gun: Federal Legislation and the Fight Against Gun Violence”
With Congresswoman Betty McCollum and other special guests

Neighborhood Flyering
Register for one or more shifts to help flyer targeted neighborhoods with information about the need for federal a universal background check law.  There will be no knocking on doors or engaging in discussion with the home owner. Shift I: Saturday, August 20, 10a-12pm

Shift II: Saturday, August 20, 12-2pm

Shift III: Saturday, August 20, 2 – 4pm

Shift IV: Saturday, August 20, 4 – 6pm

Film Screening: Making a Killing: Guns, Greed, and The NRA.     More info still to come
Sunday, August 21, 6:30-8:30pm
This film exposes how the gun industry and the NRA are resisting legislation for the sake of profit – and thereby putting people in danger. A discussion will follow.
